Joshilyn Jackson, an author who was a finalist in Columbia County's 2007 One Book, One Community program, will hold an author visit and book-signing at 2:30 p.m. July 29 at the Columbia County Library, in Evans.

Gospel visit

Jimmy Snow, son of Grand Ole Opry star Hank Snow, will perform in a gospel concert at 7 p.m. Friday at the Purvis Community School on Highway 17 between Thomson and Wrens, Ga. He will also perform for the Sunday morning worship service July 29 at 10 a.m. at Bible Fellowship Church, which meets at the Belair Conference Center. For information, call (706) 651-1971.

Clothing sale

The Children's Resource Center, at 6347 Columbia Road in Appling, operated by the Columbia County Foundation for Children, is holding a $3 bag sale on summer clothing. The center is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. For information or to make donations, call (706) 541-2849.

Nominees sought

The public is invited to nominate candidates for Columbia County Arts Inc.'s third annual Individual Artist award, which is given to a living Columbia County artist who has dedicated himself or herself to excellence, growth, support and availability of the arts in Columbia County. Pottery workshops

Columbia County educator Dave Stewart, the owner of Wild Hare Pottery at 1627 Georgia Ave. in North Augusta, will hold workshops on creating teapots and making tiles in July and August. Call (803) 279-7813.
