Airman survives Vietnam plane crash
1st Lt. Winston R. Harriss of Harlem, reported missing earlier this week on a flight over mountain country in South Vietnam, has been found alive.
The Air Force reported that the young lieutenant was one of four airmen who survived the crash of the C123. One man suffered a broken leg.
The four were found Wednesday, four days after their transport plane crashed into a jungle mountainside Sunday.
Lt. Harriss was an outstanding student in high school and college. He received his commission at Emory University.
