'Kind, caring people' responded to need, provided 'place to call home'

Posted: Sunday, July 22, 2007

My name is Mildred "Chicken Lady" Ely. On Sept. 11 of this year, I will turn 91 years old. Just more than a year ago, my property was condemned and I was forced to move with nowhere to go. Fortunately, some kind and caring people heard of my needs and moved quickly to assist me.

//

Space will not allow me to tell my story, so this letter is an attempt to thank as many of those who helped me as possible. I know I will overlook some, because I can't recall all of the many who came to my aid. This letter is an effort to thank as many as I can.

Some of the many are: Bible Cathedral and friends; David Huguenin; Tim Custer; Jerry Pittman; Ken Cooter; Duane Hughes; Jerry Bigham of Maner Builders Supply; Mulherin Lumber Co.; Reliable Rentals; Joey Brush of Brush and Company, and many of their subcontractors; Leroy Minyard of Minyard Electrical Co.; and so many, many others that I can't recall or have never met.

I ask those whom I have overlooked to forgive me, but to please accept my sincere gratitude and appreciation.

Thanks to them, I now have a lovely place to call home. Thank you, and thank you again. God bless each and every one of you.
