Baseball tryouts

Open tryouts for a new USSSA boys 9 and under travel team will be held for boys under 9 as of May 1, 2008. No trainer fees are charged. Practices are to be held in Evans. Some overnight travel is involved. For information, call Trevor Adkins at (706) 284-7379.
Golf program
The Columbia County Recreation and Leisure Services and Bartram Trail Golf Course will present a four-week youth golf program. The program will meet once a week from 9 to 11 a.m. and cost $75. The program will run July 16 and 23 for ages 8-10 and July 18 and 25 and Aug. 1 for ages 11-13. There will be a limit of 10 children per age division; additional sessions will be available on Aug. 27. Head golf pro Robby Watson and assistant pro Patrick Gantt will be the instructors. Golf clinics
Bartram Tail Golf Club will hold a Junior Golf Clinic on Aug. 6-9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Class size is limited to the first 20 paid children ages 6-18. The cost is $150, which includes range balls, instruction, lunch, entry fee and prizes for a nine-hole tournament. Aquinas camps
Aquinas High School is offering summer sports camps for children entering grades 5-8 for the following sports:

Golf camps
The 2007 YMCA Golf Camps for ages 6-17 will be held at Bartram Trail Golf Course July 23-26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camps will include comprehensive instruction from PGA professionals and certified golf instructors and will include unlimited range balls and nine holes of golf with prizes and awards. Basketball clinic
The Dip Metress Basketball Academy will hold a clinic July 20-21 for boys and girls in grades 1-9. Camp will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 20 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 21.
