Woman reports telephoned threat

A Martinez woman called deputies Thursday to report that an anonymous caller threatened her family.

The 36-year-old woman said that someone called her home from a blocked ID and said, "I killed your kids. Have you been watching the news?" The woman told deputies the caller repeated the statement and refused to identify himself.

The woman hung up the phone and checked on her children, who were sleeping in their bedrooms.

After the call, the woman told deputies she became very upset and could not sleep for the rest of the night.

Woman reports harassment

An Evans woman told police Thursday that someone she's had problems with in the past was harassing her and opening her mail.

On Thursday afternoon, the 56-year-old woman told deputies that a Harlem man knocked on her door just after midnight and told her about a conversation she'd had with someone else earlier in the day. She asked the man to leave, which he did.

The woman said the man returned at about 4 a.m. and she asked him again to leave. As she was leaving to file a police report, she told deputies, the man came to her home again and she believes he stole mail from her mailbox.

The woman explained to police that the man told her about a specific envelope and that it would be in her mailbox later that day. After filing the report, the woman showed deputies the envelope he spoke about, which appeared to have been opened and resealed.

Several reports have been filed with the sheriff's office regarding the man's behavior.

Alcohol stolen from garage

Police were called to an Evans home Thursday after its owner reported $50 in alcoholic beverages stolen from the garage.

The 42-year-old woman said that between 9:30 p.m. June 27 and 6 a.m. Thursday, someone entered her garage and stole alcohol including Smirnoff Ice, Samuel Adams and Jack Daniel's malt cooler from a refrigerator in the detached garage.

The woman said she accidentally left the garage door open overnight and discovered the refrigerator door open Thursday morning.

Air conditioner stolen from studio

Deputies responded to a report of an open window at a Martinez dance studio Thursday and found an air conditioner was stolen.

Someone reported an open window at Augusta's Footloose and Fancy Free Cloggers at 213-A Hightower Drive after 7:15 p.m. Thursday. Deputies found an open front window and checked the building, but nothing inside appeared disturbed.

The studio owner told deputies a $150 air conditioning unit was missing from the front window.
