The family friendly Movies Under the Stars series is moving to the Columbia County Amphitheater for three consecutive Fridays beginning July 13.

The movie series, which benefits the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center, ended its run at the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Botanical Gardens in Augusta with its June 30 closure, MCG Hospital spokeswoman Deborah Humphrey said.

"It has been historically held there, but we are really thrilled to be moving to the Columbia County Amphitheater," she said. "The amphitheater is just a wonderful facility that I think will be very conducive to Movies Under the Stars."

The series begins July 13 with the 1985 family classic Goonies, followed by the animated film Ice Age on July 20 and Night at the Museum on July 27.

Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair. Picnic baskets or coolers with food and nonalcoholic beverages are also permitted, Humphrey said.

Tickets to the movies cost $1, and concessions will be available. The gates open at 6:30 p.m., with show time after dusk. For more information, call (706) 721-4004 or visit www.mcghealth.org/kids.
