Thanks to supporters, fellow candidates for 24th District Senate race
On Feb. 13, we lost a good friend in Charlie Norwood. Up until that point, for the past 20 years (on and off), I worked on congressional and gubernatorial campaigns with the thought that I would one day be a candidate myself. Upon hearing the news about Charlie, it hit me; "it's time."

Things to Do
The Alzheimer's Association of Augusta is recruiting participants for Memory Walk 2007, which will be held Nov. 3 at Lake Olmstead. The first 75 team captains or individuals who register before July 13 will be invited to the July 18 kickoff luncheon at Outback Steakhouse.

Police blotter
A 45-year-old Evans woman was killed Saturday afternoon after being thrown from her moped. Lorilie Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene at about 3:30 p.m. in Wildwood Park at 6212 Holloway Road on Thurmond Lake.

Sports Calendar
The 2007 YMCA Golf Camps for ages 6-17 will be at Bartram Trail Golf Course on July 9-12 and July 23-26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camps will include comprehensive instruction from PGA professionals and certified golf instructors.

Prep golfer rallies in tournament at UGA
After Day One of the 42nd annual Georgia Junior Championship, Augusta Prep rising senior Lee Knox was getting the usual "chin up" comments. The dozen or so local golfers also in the three-day tournament were trying to console a friend after a bad day of golf.
