The junior team of Brian Yohe, William Zealy, Jessie Patterson, Jeremy Sanderlin, Chris Morgan, Paul Rosenzweig and Paul McNair placed second with a score of 123, losing to the first-place team by one point. Four members of the senior team - Caleb Collins, Brandon Hall, Dillion Janelle and Cody Knox - scored a perfect 25 but fell a few points short in the shoot-off.

The 32 Columbia County 4-H participants competed against 894 people at the statewide match. In order to attend, all of the participants attended county practice sessions and competed in an area qualification match. Each team member also was required to successfully complete the Georgia Hunter Safety Program. The team is coached by Keith Howard and volunteers.

The Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program receives funding through a grant from the National Rifle Association, Mike Cockerham and other donations.
