I received a mailer stating that "Bill Jackson is the real Republican in the race for Senate." Oh, is he? In the words of Rush Limbaugh, "Barbara Streisand". Bill Jackson ran as a Republican, then as a Democrat, then as a Republican again during his 16 years in the General Assembly. He received the endorsement of The Metro Spirit as, did Pelosi-Democrat Jim Marlow.
This mailer has the Columbia County voting records of all four state Senate candidates dating back to 2000. It states that I was "not a resident" then. The fact of the matter is that I arrived in the CSRA in May 1999 from Korea and have lived here ever since. I was active duty Army and have lived within a 5-mile radius for the past eight years. When I departed the Army, I (and my wife) chose to settle here.
By the way; I was in Operation Iraqi Freedom defending Bill's freedom to mass-distribute distorted representations of his opponents in an irresponsible fashion with funds given to him to honorably present his case to be elected. Since he wants to discuss voting records, let's. His last year in office, he voted 65 percent of the time, giving his constituents no voice on 35 percent of the votes affecting them. His last year, he had an 87 percent attendance record during a 40-day session. Who is he kidding?
Sheriff Clay Whittle has a statement running on air stating that Bill is a longtime Republican. Please! The facts, for those interested, are that I registered to vote in 1986 when I became of age, and I registered Republican and have always been a registered Republican and will and am running as a Republican. Bill Jackson cannot honestly make such a claim. It sure is sad and desperate that a person with 16 years in the Assembly refuses to run on his voting record while in Office. Sure sounds like a Democrat to me.
