Teams set for summer tourney at Evans High School

Though the 2007 baseball season ended last week with Greenbrier's state championship, the 2008 season has already started. Evans High School will hold the annual Evans Classic Summer Tournament this weekend at baseball fields around the county.

Evans baseball coach Ricky Beale said 36 teams will participate in the three-day event, which starts Thursday. Baseball fields at Evans, Lakeside, Greenbrier, Harlem and Westside high schools and Patriots Park will be used, and admission will be $4 for adults and $1 for children.
