Heritage fest
Grovetown's Heritage Festival, which this year will include the dedication of the city's Memorial Wall with speeches by Fort Gordon's commanding general and by Columbia County historian Charles Lord, will be held on Memorial Day in downtown Grovetown. Absentee voting
Absentee voting is now available for the June 19 special election. Voters may cast ballots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through June 18 at the Board of Elections office in the Columbia County Government Center, Building E, adjacent to the Board of Health. Memory screening
The Alzheimer's Association of Augusta will hold free memory screenings conducted by Dr. Susan Smith and Dr. Shirley Poduslo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Elmcroft of Martinez, The Pass at Furys Ferry Road, in Martinez. For information, call (706) 731-9060.
Dog Walk
The new Evans Lions Club will hold its inaugural Dog Walk from 9 a.m. to noon June 16 at the Columbia County Memorial Gardens. Entry fee costs $10 per dog, and proceeds support Project Courage and Leader Dogs of America. For information, call Bob and Jeanie Brandon at (706) 863-0115.
