A regional town meeting to discuss Georgia's statewide water planning and conservation efforts will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 23 at Augusta Technical College's Information Technology Center, 3200 Augusta Tech Drive.
//
The meeting is one of 12 such gatherings across the state arranged by the Georgia Water Council, whose experts will be available to discuss the development of the Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Plan that will be presented to the General Assembly in 2008.
Details about the plan are available online at georgiawatercouncil.org, and issues covered in the plan will include minimizing water withdrawals from lakes and aquifers, maximizing the amount of water returned to those bodies and devising conservation measures to reduce water consumption.
