The special recognition of Columbia County, including children who play baseball in the county's Recreation Department league, will take place during the GreenJackets Saturday game, set to start at 7:05 p.m. at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

To get a special deal on a ticket, Columbia County Recreation Director Charlie Beale said, county residents can visit the ball fields of Patriots Park and Riverside Park between 6-8 p.m. tonight and Thursday.

He said GreenJackets officials will be at the parks selling tickets for the Saturday game at $6 each, and that price includes a program and GreenJackets hat.

Beale said children on a county recreation league team are being encouraged to wear their team uniform to the Saturday GreenJackets game.

"Any of the children who wear their uniforms to the game on Saturday night can go on the field and we're going to pick one child to throw out the first pitch," Beale said.

He said some of the GreenJackets will be visiting Patriots Park on Saturday morning for a baseball clinic. The first 100 people who sign up will get into the free clinic.

As of Friday, he said, the county had started taking reservations, but the 100 open spots had not been filled.
