Graduation of county's seniors nears

More than 1,300 seniors will receive their diplomas when Columbia County's high schools hold their graduation ceremonies at James Brown Arena in Augusta on Saturday.

Lakeside High School will hold the first ceremony of the day, at 9 a.m. Evans High School's commencement exercises will follow at 11:30 a.m.

The afternoon ceremonies will begin at 2 p.m. when Harlem High School's graduating seniors take center stage. Greenbrier High School will cap off the day with its 4:30 p.m. commencement exercises.

Graduation day at Augusta Christian Schools is scheduled for May 26. The ceremony honoring the 64 graduating seniors will begin at 4 p.m. at West Acres Baptist Church.

Thirty-one seniors will receive their diplomas from Augusta Preparatory Day School on June 3. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the Boardman Athletic Center.
