Volleyball camps

- Augusta Preparatory Day School's fifth annual summer volleyball camps will take place June 25-29. The middle school session (grades 5-8) will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and the high school session (grades 9-12) will run from 1-4 p.m. The cost is $100 and includes a camp T-shirt. - Registration is open for the seventh annual Greenbrier High School Volleyball Camp. The camp will run June 4-7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $70 and applications can be found on the school's Web site at www.greenbrierathletics.net. The first 45 paid applicants will be accepted. Basketball camp

The 17th annual Sure-Shot Basketball Camp will take place June 4-8 and June 11-15 at Lakeside Middle School. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon for children in grades 2-5, and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grades 6-9. Cost of the camp is $75. Soccer tryouts

The Columbia County Patriots will be holding select soccer tryouts for boys and girls U9-U19. The U9-U12 tryouts will take place May 29-31 and June 2 and 4. The U13-19 tryouts will take place June 11, 12, 14, 16 and 18.

All weekday tryouts will begin at 6:30 p.m. with registration open at 6 p.m. All Saturday tryouts will begin at 10 a.m. with registration open at 9:30 a.m. For more information, go to www.patriotssoccer.org or call (706) 312-7488.

Basketball camps

- Augusta Christian Schools will hold a boys basketball camp May 28-31 for rising fourth-eighth grade boys. The sixth-eighth grade camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and the fourth-fifth grade camp will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Cost of the camp is $85, which includes a T-shirt and camp certificate. - The Dip Metress Basketball Academy will be held June 18-22 at Augusta State University. Academy Director Dip Metress, Augusta State's men's basketball coach, will lead the coed camp open to children in grades 1-8. Softball camp

Registration is open for the annual Greenbrier Fastpitch Softball Clinic held May 29-June 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greenbrier High School. Baseball camp

Golf tournament

The inaugural Knights Football Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 20 at the Gordon Lakes Golf Course. Registration and lunch will begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

The captain's choice tournament costs $200 per team or $50 per player, with an awards presentation immediately after the end of play. Hole sponsorships also are available.

Permit drawing

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will accept letters of application through Tuesday for the random drawing for 250 permits for hunting and fishing on Fort Gordon.

Letters should include the applicant's full name, address, Social Security number, date of birth and phone number.

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older and possess a valid Georgia Hunter Safety card or its equivalent. Send letters to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Attention: Fort Gordon Hunt, 142 Bob Kirk Road Thomson, GA 30824. For information, call (706) 791-2397.
