Pupil gets dad's company to donate bike rack to Harlem

If you have been by Harlem Middle School lately, then you might have noticed something different.

A bike rack has been placed in front of the school. Some students at Harlem ride their bikes to school every day. Until now, the students would put their bikes up against the flagpole in front of the school and chain them up.

Breanna Widener, a seventh-grader who is on the school's student council, had her father's company, A&A Construction Co. Inc., make the bike rack.

A&A donated the 1-inch pipe, the fittings and the paint for the rack. Firstborn donated the half-inch pipe. The bike rack is black, and it has room for 10 to 12 bicycles. The letters HMS are built into the front of the rack.

The students at Harlem Middle are appreciative of this memento. It is good when students come together and make this school a better place for everyone.

Corey Andrews is a seventh-grader at Harlem Middle School.
