Fort Gordon permits
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will be accepting letters of application May 1-15 for the random drawing for 250 permits for hunting and fishing on Fort Gordon. Letters should include the applicant's full name, address, Social Security number, date of birth and phone number. Applicants must be 16 or older and possess a valid Georgia Hunter Safety card or its equivalent. Golf tournament
The 21st annual Alltel Boy Scout Golf Classic will be June 4 at Mount Vintage Plantation and Golf Club. The Lauderdale format tournament will hold registration at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost is $500 for a four-man team or $125 for individuals, which includes door prizes and a steak dinner. Special needs T-ball
T-ball for kids with special needs ages 4-18 will meet in Martinez starting in late May. This volunteer-based program is open to children in the CSRA, and neurotypical friends and siblings are welcomed to join. Dedicated coaching volunteers and assistants are needed. Bicycle ride
The 2007 Best Dam Ride Reloaded will take place at Clarks Hill Lake at 8:30 a.m. today. The multi-option ride will begin at the dam and end at the Clarks Hill picnic area. Registration costs $30, which includes a T-shirt, breakfast and a goody bag. All proceeds will benefit the Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation.
