Word of Life Church, on Washington Road near Keg Creek Drive, in Appling, will sell gifts and used books from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to raise funds for youth programs.

Spring carnival

Lewiston Elementary School's spring carnival will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the school on Hereford Farm Road, in Evans. Armbands for unlimited rides cost $15, or 50 cents for individual tickets, and are available in advance at the school or on the day of the carnival.

Jazz performance

The Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band will present "Various Jazz Styles" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theater at ASU. Admission is free.

Boating course

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will hold a one-day boating safety course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue headquarters, 3910 Desoto Drive, in Martinez. 'Grease' musical

Harlem Drama will perform the musical Grease in a fund-raiser for cystic fibrosis at 7 p.m. May 2-4, and at 3 p.m. May 5, at the high school. For information, call (706) 556-5980, ext. 227.

Fitness walk
