Lakeside service Saturday

Lakeside High School will hold a memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday for a 2002 graduate killed in Monday's mass shooting at Virginia Tech.

Ryan Clark, 22, of Martinez, was set to graduate in one month from Virginia Tech and was among the first students shot Monday by Cho Seung-Hui, 23, whom authorities say killed 32 students and staff before killing himself.

Lakeside Principal Dr. Jeff Carney said Saturday's memorial service "will give family members, friends, etc., the opportunity to remember Ryan in a fitting way while they await the release of his body for the funeral."

The family also is setting up an account for donations to defray the costs of the funeral, Carney said.
