County abandoned proposed trail without hearing from supporters

We were disappointed to read that Columbia County officials had decided to exclude the Stratford subdivision from the Euchee Creek trail without giving pro-trail residents a chance to present a different viewpoint at the upcoming public meeting.

As residents on Barnsley Drive, we viewed the trail as a safer alternative for families who currently have to walk and bike on the street due to the lack of sidewalks.

Having lived in neighborhoods with similar trails, we have found them to be a desirable amenity with little impact on crime.

While we respect the Andersons' desire for privacy, maybe they should have bought a house with private water access or a fence rather than one that was only 10 feet away from public land.
