The Augusta National Golf Club is not the only place where people hope to putt well this week. Elijah Clark State Park in Lincolnton, Ga., will hold a Masters Week Parent/Child Mini Golf Tournament on Wednesday.

The second annual competition will consist of one parent paired with one child to play 18 holes of mini golf.

Park activity manager Trevor Bullard said a tournament was held last year, only less organized and on a smaller scale.

This year, mini-golfers can tee off between 1 and 3 p.m., with prizes going to the top finishing teams, best-dressed team and team that traveled the longest distance. There also will be an award for the first hole in one.

Georgia State Park golf balls, towels and hats have been discussed as possible prizes, park volunteer Marilyn Grau said.

Competitors will vie for the top spots in the following age brackets: 5-6; 7-8; 9-10; 11-12; and 13-19.

The entry fee is $3 and should be paid during registration before tee time. The charge includes use of golf clubs, balls and greens. Hot dogs and drinks are also covered.

There is no limit to how many people can register and compete. Everyone is encouraged to come out and play.

In the case of rain, the tournament will be played Thursday. For more information, contact Elijah Clark State Park at (706) 359-3458.
