Art in the Park

Artists are invited to compete in the art show May 4 at the Columbia County library in Evans. The theme is "Pine, Clay and Cotton." Scholarships

Saturday is the deadline for applications for the Greater Augusta Association of Realtors high school senior scholarships. Applications are available at www. augustarealtors.com.

Youth leadership

Friday is the deadline for applications for the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program for 2008. Applications are available from school counselors or may be downloaded at www.columbiacountychamber.com. For information, call (706) 651-0018.

Jazz series ends

The finale of Columbia County's "Sounds of Jazz" series will be held at 7 p.m. Friday with Nikolai Svishev at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center. Tickets cost $10. For information, call (706) 312-7191, or go to www.columbiacountyga.gov.

Boating course

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will hold a boating safety course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue headquarters, 3910 Desoto Drive, in Martinez. Cost is $35 for individuals or $50 for families. For information, call (864) 391-2170, or e-mail jlvano@wctel.net.
