Hello, Columbia County voters. Good news; we now have a new standard against which to measure the excellence of our county commissioners and county school board.
It ain't how much they stink, it's whether or not they stink as badly as, or worse, than those same bodies in Richmond County.
Two editorials in last Sunday's News-Times state this premise very clearly. In one editorial, if Columbia County's taxpayer-sucker contract with outgoing school superintendent Tommy Price does not rip off the taxpayers quite as badly as Richmond County's does their taxpayers for former school superintendent Charles Larke, then our school board "dun good."
Then in a second editorial, our county commissioners under their prize chairman Ron Cross are busting a button to stick us and do it real quick with a $75,000 study to show why Columbia County should not let Richmond County get straight on the need for the new arena thing before they throw more of your millions into this Desperately Needed complex.
The old rules are out. You only need know that which our school board has done and that which our county commissioners are about to do now is fine. After all, it ain't as bad as Richmond County - is it?
