Grovetown's new community center is now open to the public for membership.

Memberships to Liberty Park Community Center on Newmantown Road became available Thursday, said Michael Woods, the city's Public Works director.
"Lots of people have been calling wanting to know when, how much and everything," Woods said.
The $1.1 million community center at Liberty Park officially opened Jan. 15. Some fitness equipment was still on order at the time. That equipment arrived and was installed about three weeks ago, Woods said.
Membership includes access to the center's gymnasium and the fitness room stocked with cardio and weight-lifting equipment. He said the fitness room includes two treadmills, an abdominal crunch machine, two cross-trainers, a three-station multi-gym, a 45-degree angle back extension machine, a life cycle and a vertical knee raise machine.
Individual, family and senior citizen memberships range from $40 to $225. An annual membership for a city resident is $75, and a Columbia County resident can purchase an annual membership to Patriots Park for $100. Annual and semiannual memberships for residents and nonresidents are available.
Family memberships include admittance for the husband, wife and children.
Senior memberships, for those 55 and older, cost $50 per individual or $75 per family.
"You can't beat that," Woods said. Senior memberships to Patriots Park cost from $80 to $100.
City residents who are not members can pay $5 per day for use of the gym. Daily gym use for noncity residents is $10, he said.
"You need to be a member to be in the fitness room," Woods said.
Woods said city officials are still researching software to create member ID badges. In the meantime, "they have to come up here and pay at city hall and get a receipt to take down there to use until we get the software."
Until software is installed, he said, all memberships should be paid at City Hall on Old Wrightsboro Road at East Robinson Avenue.
The community center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
