Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church in Evans will play host to a four-part youth leadership seminar beginning Saturday.

The Rev. Larry Glover, a pastor at Gospel Water Branch, said he organized this year's seminar based on input from parents and teens.

In three-hour classes during the next four Saturdays, teens will learn communication skills, receive career advice and job interview skills, learn conflict resolution and decision-making skills and learn how to abstain from sex, drugs and alcohol.

The first session begins with communication skills, Glover said. The church will bring in human resources professionals, police and other experts to teach the classes.

As someone who has worked in public schools and in the military, Glover said education is the key ingredient to get teens to make positive life decisions.

"I believe children will make better decisions when they are equipped to," he said.

The seminar is free and open to teens ages 13 to 18. Each class begins at 9 a.m.
