A Greenbrier High School senior studying art therapy for her senior project is planning an art show to benefit the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center.
Kaitlyn Keller, 18, said she'll have her own artwork along with some from other students and area artists on display from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bean Baskette Coffee at 4414 Evans to Locks Road near Omni Health and Fitness.
"There are no local art therapists," Keller said. "I had to do a lot of research. I contacted art therapists around the country."
Keller practiced what she'd learned by volunteering to teach an art therapy class to a 5-year-old girl at the children's hospital.
The art show is themed "Live out Loud!" and some of the art will be available for purchase or will be auctioned off to benefit the children's hospital, Keller said. Donations will be accepted.
Local guitarist Emily Annis will be performing.
Keller said she plans for a career in an artistic discipline.
"I'm not sure exactly what, but I know it will be in that field," she said.
