Music will ring through Columbia County's Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center on Saturday as the Augusta Symphony performs another installment of a music series.
//
The concert, part of the Columbia County Music Series, will feature the varied repertoire of the Georgia Guitar Quartet. The Athens-based group of classically trained guitarists will perform some original music in addition to classical pieces, from Praetorius to the quirky Peanuts theme.
"The program itself is a real diverse kind of thing," said Sandra Self, the symphony's executive director. "They write their own music. They'll be doing some well-known pieces as well."
The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Evans. Tickets cost $20 and are $7 for military personnel and full-time students.
The first two series concerts were successful, Self said, with a sell-out in November and a near sell-out in January.
"We love the venue," Self said. "The musicians love it. It has wonderful acoustics.''
The four-part series will conclude April 26 with popular classics performed by a small string orchestra or symphony musicians.
"It's just great stuff," Self said of the concert, which will feature compositions by Mozart, Elgar, Corigliano and Britten.
Tickets will be available at the door.
