2006 highlights: The Knights reached the Class AAAA state quarterfinals and swept Lee County and Woodward Academy in the first and second rounds of the state tournament. Evans was ranked as high as No. 3 in the state during the regular season.

Player to watch: Senior pitcher Kyle Golden will be the Knights' ace this year. He entered the 2006 season as a virtual unknown but will open the season as the team's No. 1 starter.

Strength: The old saying that pitching wins championships might come true for the Knights. Evans returns three senior pitchers in Golden, Matt Fleenor and Pat Husbands. Juniors Kevin Millward and Teddy Leverett will also contribute on the mound.

Weakness: Inexperience. Evans lost seven starters from last season's state quarterfinals team. The talent is there, but remains unproved.
