League President Kenneth Daniels said parents signed up about 175 children Saturday at Putt-Putt Golf and Games, on Martinez Industrial Boulevard. Registration will resume this Saturday at Putt-Putt from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and conclude Feb. 3.

The cost to join Little League is $65 for children ages 5 to 8 and $70 for children ages 9 to 15. The cost is $50 for each additional child.

A birth certificate and proof of residency in Columbia County are required for first-time players.

Teams will be formed in the first week of March and games are scheduled to begin in mid-April, Daniels said.

About 800 children are registered in a typical year, but he said the league will accommodate as many eligible children as wish to play.
