Aerobics marathon will be held at gym at Fort Gordon

For anyone who might have gotten a little slack on their New Year's resolution to exercise, Fort Gordon has the solution - a six-hour aerobics marathon.

Aerobathon will allow people to try several types of aerobic exercises, said Lula Ray, the Gym 3 manager.

"We're putting it all together. There are a variety of instructors teaching different classes," she said.

Participants can take one 30-minute class or stay for the whole day. The cost is $5 no matter how many classes a person takes.

Aerobics instructors from Fort Gordon's gyms and the Family Y will be teaching classes such as high and low impact, step aerobics, Zumba and kickboxing. There also will be floor exercises.

Ray said she tried the concept about two years ago and more than 100 people participated.

"It's back by popular demand. They've been on me to do this again," she said.

Door prizes will be given during the event.

Ray said this will be the first of three Aerobathons this year.

The other events will be April 14 and Aug. 18.

The Aerobathon is open to the general public; however, participants must be at least 16 years old.
