Parents will get a second look at a proposed rezoning, which would affect five Columbia County elementary schools next school year.
A second public forum to discuss the rezoning proposal will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lewiston Elementary School, located at 5426 Hereford Farm Rd.
A new elementary school opens in August at the same site as Grovetown Middle School, which played host to the first forum.
The current rezoning plan would shift hundreds of pupils out of Grovetown and Euchee Creek elementary schools and send them to the new school. About 40 pupils from Brookwood Elementary also would attend the new school.
The controversial aspect of the rezoning is a plan to relocate 40 pupils from North Harlem Elementary and 90 pupils from Lewiston Elementary, and send them to Euchee Creek Elementary.
Many North Harlem parents voiced their objections to the proposal at the first forum on Dec. 11.
