Skating clinic

The Augusta Ice Sports Center will hold a free skating clinic from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Saturday, with demonstrations, free skating lessons and free skate time and information about skating and hockey classes. For information, call Judi Schiffner at (706) 863-0061, ext. 205.

Rowing tryouts

The Augusta Junior Rowing Team will conduct spring tryouts on Jan. 8-10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Augusta Boathouse at 101 Riverfront Drive. Men and women ages 13-18 are invited to participate. No experience is necessary. For information, call (706) 821-2875 or go to www.augustarowingclub.org.

Volleyball clinic

The CSRA HEAT Volleyball Club will hold developmental clinics for girls in grades 5-11 on Sundays from 5-7 p.m. from Jan. 7 through March 25. Umpires clinic

A USSSA baseball umpires clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at Citizens Park in Aiken. The clinic is to be conducted by South Carolina USSSA UIC James Smith. Basketball registration

The city of Grovetown and the Marshall Family Y have partnered to bring new youth sports programs including youth co-ed basketball for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Games will be played at Grovetown's Liberty Park, and registration is taking place until Jan. 13 at the Marshall Family Y in Evans and Jan. 6-13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Liberty Park. Tennis registration

The CSRA Junior Tennis League for ages 8-18 will have open registration for the spring team tennis season Jan. 1-15. To register, go to www.csratennis.com and in the menu under "Juniors" and "Registration" click on Player. A current USTA membership valid through April 30 is required to register. To obtain a USTA membership, go to www.usta.com or call USTA at (800) 990-8782. The league fee is $20 plus a $2 TennisLink fee. League play starts Jan. 28 and ends April 1.
