While many others might bring in 2007 at local watering hole or party, the youth of Abilene Baptist Church will skate and dance their way into the new year.

The Martinez church's minister of youth and college, Bob Agan, has rented out the Augusta Ice Forum this evening as part of a New Year's Eve party.
After skating, the teens and young adults will then head back to the church at 3917 Washington Road for a concert by Atlanta-based contemporary Christian artist David Glenn as they count down to midnight, Agan said.
"We know that students in high school and college are going to head out on New Year's Eve," Agan said. "We wanted to provide them with a safe outlet with friends."
The party at the ice-skating rink begins at 8:30 p.m. and the concert starts about 10:30 p.m.
Agan expects more than 100 of the church's youth, along with their friends, to attend the skating event and concert.
"This is more than just a way of keeping them off the streets," he said. "This is something that's going to be fun and exciting. I don't want them to regret coming here versus going to someone else's party."
