Woman charged in theft of computer equipment

A Devereux, Ga., woman was charged with felony shoplifting Dec. 21 in connection with the theft of computer equipment from an Evans store.

Angela Marie Munsey, 36, of Carr Station Road, was being held Tuesday without bond at the Columbia County Detention Center.

A manager at the Wal-Mart on Washington Road told deputies Wednesday she saw a woman take a computer and three monitors out the front door of the store and put them into her vehicle without paying.

Two Augusta men charged with forgery

Two Augusta men were arrested Dec. 21 after authorities say the pair tried to pay for a meal at Martinez restaurant with a forged check.

William Earl Norris, 28, and Dale Roger Shelman, 26, both of the 400 block of Hamilton Street, are charged with forgery. Norris was being held Tuesday on $5,100 bond at the Columbia County Detention Center.

Shelman was being held without bond because of an outstanding warrant.

A manager of the CiCi's Pizza on the 4000 block of Washington Road told deputies she became suspicious when Norris and Shelman paid for a $21 meal with a check written for $81.

Deputies learned at the scene that the check belonged to a third person who was not at the restaurant.

Jewelry stolen from Grovetown home

A Grovetown woman told deputies Dec. 19 that someone stole a jewelry box from her home.

The 75-year-old told deputies that someone entered her home by knocking out an air conditioning unit positioned in a window sometime between Dec. 15 and Dec. 18. The box contained about $2,000 worth of jewelry.

Residents report stolen decorations

Columbia County authorities responded to two incidents of stolen Christmas decorations Tuesday.

In the first incident, a 35-year-old woman from the 700 block of Winding Creek Court in Evans told deputies that someone stole a 7-foot-tall lighted Christmas tree from her yard and unplugged a lighted reindeer lawn ornament, according to a sheriff's incident report.

In the second incident, a 52-year-old woman from the 4200 block of Quail Springs Road in Martinez told deputies someone stole a lighted yard ornament in the shape of a seal from her yard.
