With Monday being Christmas, I decided to give the readers a special Christmas poem:
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town
Greenbrier fans are praying their girls can win a hoops state crown.
Coach Black has his stockings hung but his mantle is bare
In hopes that a state championship trophy soon will be there.
At Evans, coach Kenny's players are resting and staying in good health
To prepare for a big rematch with Greenbrier on the 12th,
If the Knight's young guards can come through, and get it done on the floor
The Knights, too, could find themselves making a run at a Final Four.
At Augusta Christian they should be proud this holiday season.
Baseball, football and track champs, yes, the Lions can be proud for a reason.
Josh Whitaker's back on the diamond this spring.
Back-to-back-to-back, yeah, it has a nice ring.
Lakeside's golf team reigned supreme in Georgia in 2006.
With plenty of young talent back in '07, they might have another title in their bag of tricks.
The Panthers soccer teams are always tough, and that won't change anytime soon.
Hopefully they'll have a chance this season to also sing a championship tune.
At Harlem they look forward to baseball as much as any team around.
The Dogs are young, but talented, so perhaps they can challenge this spring for another state crown.
They also have plenty of football players getting recruited this year;
Hopefully they will have plenty of scholarship offers so the fans can stand and cheer.
Augusta Prep has had plenty to root for on the hardwood the past couple of weeks.
Let's hope the Cavaliers can make a run in the playoffs to reach the championship goal they seek.
So now a word for the coaches: please keep fighting the good fight,
And of course, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
