A new Augusta dance company will make its premier performance Saturday in Evans.

Pulse Dance Center, on Belair Frontage Road, in Augusta, will present a multicultural celebration of the holiday season with its first performance - Joy.

Dancers from the center's two competitive Rhythm and Pulse companies will hit the stage for an evening of holiday-inspired jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical dances at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Center at the Columbia County Library in Evans.

"We have different Christmas songs, Hanukkah songs and the general Joy to the World-type songs," said Julie Pittenger, a co-owner of Pulse.

The show will feature 19 dancers from the center, which opened in August.

Proceeds from Joy will go toward the Salvation Army's Angel Tree project. The program provides gifts for children 12 and under and seniors 62 and older. The studio members adopted 15 of the center's 47 "angels," and officials are hoping the concert will provide Christmas gifts and essentials for the remaining 32.

Tickets for the show are $10 for adults and $7 for children 21 and under and seniors 55 and over.

Pittenger said tickets are going fast, but will be available at the door.
