Family: Bob and Cathy Kinner
Address: 4053 Raintree Drive, Martinez
Directions: From Evans, take Washington Road east to Flowing Wells Road, turn right. Turn left on Old Trail Road, take a right onto Indian Creek Road, then a left on Raintree Drive.
What the display includes: Spotlights shining on many handmade, painted Christmas-theme cutouts, such as a Nativity scene, nutcrackers, gingerbread houses, a toy shop and a patriotic Santa Claus; tens of thousands of lights.
Why do you do the lights display each year, and how many years have you set up the display?
"One of the reasons we went with the painted woodwork was I was working the (night) shift at that time, and everybody else got to see the lights at Christmas but I did not,'' Bob Kinner said. "You can enjoy it all day long as well as all night."
He said the family has put the display up for seven years.
Have you ever gotten comments on your display?
"We had a yard sale a year ago and a woman comes running into the backyard and says, 'Stop. Stop. I want to buy all your (Christmas) yard art,'" Cathy said. "I said, 'I'm sorry, we're not selling that.'"
What is your favorite part of the light display?
"I really enjoy the Nativity scene and also the patriotic Santa," Bob said.
"I like the manger," Cathy said.
Other than your own, what is your favorite light display?
"I love to go to Flintrock (Way)," Cathy said of the street off Flowing Wells Road.
"I like one over on Dennis Street in Merrymont subdivision," Bob said. "He's been doing it for many years and he always had a very nice, nice setup."
