Zoning meetings

The Columbia County Board of Education is holding public meetings for parent input on the proposed rezoning for the new elementary school in Grovetown. The first meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Grovetown Middle School; the second will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 4 at Lewiston Elementary. For information, call (706) 541-0650, Ext. 5204.

Old flags sought

Members of Boy Scout Troop 615 will be collecting old, worn flags for proper retirement from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia County Library, on N. Belair Road. Flags also may be dropped off during business hours at The News-Times office in the Publix shopping center, on Washington Road, in Evans; at Kings Crown, in Columbia Square, in Martinez; and at Wesley United Methodist Church, on N. New church opens

The Sanctuary, a new church pastored by Bryan Cockrell, holds services at 1:30 p.m. each Sunday at Riverside Baptist Church, 4798 Hardy-McManus Road, in Evans. A nursery and children's church are provided. For information, call (706) 650-2737.

Steak dinner
