Christmas on display

Posted: Wednesday, December 06, 2006

Family: Don, Pat and Jim Richey

Location: 765 Baker Place Road, outside Grovetown

Directions: From Grovetown, go west on Wrightsboro Road, then turn right on Baker Place Road.

What the display includes: About 30 inflatable yard ornaments and more than 100,000 lights stretched out across two front yards and houses.

Why do you set up the light display each year, and for how many years have you done it?

"It's been about three years," Don said. "We do it for all the grandkids. We have (Jannah) and we have three more, and the kids in the neighborhood (enjoy it, too)."

Have you ever gotten comments on your display?

"From everybody (we) see: 'When are you going to put the lights up?' 'When are you going to get them up again?' 'Are you going to do it this year?' Somebody asks me every day," Don said.

What is your favorite part of the light display?

"All of it," he said.

Other than your own, what is your favorite light display?

"Every year we go down to see the one in Metter, Michael Guido's (Nights of Lights), in the gardens he's got down there,'' Don said. "I think there's about four or five acres down there that's just total lights."
