Parents night
The Evans High School Dance Team will hold "Parents Night Out" from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 9 in the commons area. Tickets cost $5 per hour, per child, and $2.50 per hour for each additional child in the same family. Proceeds will defray costs for competitions. Red Cross classes
The American Red Cross of Augusta will hold adult CPR and automatic external defibrillator training 6-9 p.m. Monday and first aid training 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. A CPR, first aid and AED instructor training course will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. A disaster assessment training course will be held from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 5. World bazaar
Christ the King Lutheran Church, at 4232 Evans-to-Locks Road, in Evans, will hold a "World Bazaar" shopping market with handcrafted items from Third World countries from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3.
Hope Soap
Hope Soap, a private, nonprofit agency that collects toiletries and packages and distributes them to area shelters, has collection sites in the community. Donations, particularly of personal-sized items from hotels, may be brought to The Columbia County News-Times, in the Publix shopping center on Washington Road, Evans, and Wild Birds Unlimited, West Town Shopping Center, Martinez.
