Thanksgiving is a time for families. Whether yours is getting together here or far away, send us a photo and we'll publish a selection in an upcoming issue and online.

Parade planned

Entries are being sought for the Martinez-Evans Christmas Parade, to be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in Evans. For information, call (706) 863-7645.

Voting under way

Absentee voting for the Dec. 5 runoff is now available at the Columbia County Board of Elections Office in Building B of the Government Complex at 630 Ronald Reagan. Office hours are daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For information, Call (706) 868-3355.

Movies needed

VFW Post 6445 in Harlem is seeking donations of new or used DVDs to be sent to soldiers serving overseas. Donations may be brought to the post by Dec. 15. Donations of DVD players and cash also are welcome. For information, call (706) 556-9194, or (706) 597-3964.

Parents night

The Evans High School Dance Team will hold Parents Night Out from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 9 in the commons area. Tickets cost $5 per hour, per child, and $2.50 per hour for each additional child in the same family. Proceeds will defray costs for competitions. Vendors needed

Vendors are being sought for the Christmas market during the county's tree-lighting ceremony Dec. 2, to be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater and memorial gardens in Evans. For information, call (706) 312-7191.
