Bond priorities 'heavily weighted' to fixing problems of 'chaotic growth'

This is in reference to the upcoming bond issue as presently developed by the County Commission.

The bond appears heavily weighted in favor of correcting problems created by the hasty and chaotic growth in Evans.

Columbia County commissioners need to take a deep breath and take a more careful and cautious approach to development of the area. During past years, commissioners loudly proclaimed that growth would reduce the tax load on property owners but the opposite has occurred.

The money allocated for the cleanup of Bowen Pond does not pass the smell test. The pond was given to the county but will remain private. Would it have been donated if it didn't need a major cleanup? I think not. Commissioners need to remove this item from the bond.

The most important item, public safety projects, was allocated the least amount of money. Funds designated for items such as the Bowen Pond cleanup should be redirected to public safety.
