County should 'think of property owners' by imposing impact fees

This is to urge property owners in Columbia County to vote no on all parts of the bond issue.

This is not a knee-jerk opinion. The county commissioners are all too ready to saddle the property owners with another expense. They try the old technique of saying we save money by doing it now rather than later. Remember, there is interest to pay on the bond money. If we wait, there will still be more businesses, professional offices, and property owners to help pay for the needed items.

Also, this is falling on property owners only after already having our property reassessed and raising property taxes by 10 percent.

It is time our commissioners start thinking of the property owners and place some of the cost on others, especially builders and Realtors, in the form of impact fees.
