It's week for Evans to move up to victory

Posted: Wednesday, October 04, 2006

I am coming off a terrific 5-0 week. That brings my picks to 17-3 so far this season. I hope I'll stay hot this week.

Richmond Academy (1-4) at Evans (2-2)

If the Knights can forget about the past two games they should be able to handle the Musketeers. Richmond Academy quarterback Jacob Sullivan is outstanding, but he does not have much help.

Evans 24, ARC 13

Statesboro (4-0) at Greenbrier (3-2)

The Blue Devils are the defending state champions and have gone 29-1 in the past two seasons. As a matter of fact, dating back to 2000 Statesboro boasts a record of 77-8-1. Also, they have outscored their opponents 92-3 this year. All that adds up to a tough night for Greenbrier.

Statesboro 31, Greenbrier 14

Brunswick (2-2) at Lakeside (2-3)

Brunswick has won two straight after falling to a couple of solid opponents to open the season. Lakeside has a chance to even their record at 3-3 with a victory. I think Brunswick will be a little too tough.

Brunswick 23, Lakeside 14

Harlem (1-3) at Burke County (2-2)

The Bears came from behind this past week to upend Glenn Hills and boasts a sensational defense. This should be another low-scoring game for the Bulldogs.

Burke County 14, Harlem 9

Augusta Christian (5-1) vs. Ben Lippen (2-3)

The Lions, ranked No. 2 in SCISA, should move to 6-1 this week. They may not be as dominant as they were in 2005, but ACS has yet to lose to a team from South Carolina.

ACS 33, Ben Lippen 10
