The Augusta-area AARP Tax-Aide program is accepting applications from volunteers to help seniors and others with income taxes. A seven- to 10-day training course will be held in December and January for volunteers, who will be asked to spend at least four hours per week, Feb. 1-April 15, assisting filers. Voting begins

Absentee voting for the Nov. 7 general election will begin Monday at the Columbia County Board of Elections Office, 630 Ronald Reagan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. For information, call (706) 868-3355.

Golf tourney

The Augusta Spartans Walk for Autism Charity Golf Tournament will be held Monday at West Lake Country Club, followed by a reception, wine tasting and auctions at 5:30 p.m. For information, call Rose Young at (706) 339-5531.

'Titans' coach speaks

Coach Bill Yoast, portrayed in the movie Remember the Titans, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Congregation Children of Israel, 3005 Walton Way, Augusta. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for youths 18 and under, and $100 for a team of 25 youths and two coaches.

Brookwood musical

Brookwood Elementary School's first production of the annual Broadway at Brookwood musical series, Colors - We're Better Together, will be performed at 2:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday at the school, at 455 S. Old Belair Road. Admission is free.
