I'm coming off another great week going 4-0 for Friday's games. That puts me at 11-1 for the season. I'm destined for an 0-4 week. I hope it will not come for a while.
This week's games are the most difficult to call this season.
Evans (2-0) at Greenbrier (1-2)
The Greenbrier baseball team will receive its state championship rings before the game, and 'Pack fans are hoping emotion will be riding high with their county rival coming to the Brierpatch. This is a tough call, but I'm going with Evans to win a close one.
Evans 17, Greenbrier 16
Lakeside (1-2) at ARC (1-2)
Both teams have struggled so far this season. The Musketeers are coming off their first win (17-13 over Wayne County). They faced two very solid opponents in weeks 1 and 2, losing to Westside and Effingham County. I think ARC's duo of Marquell Jordan (RB) and Jacob Sullivan (QB) will be a little too much for the Panthers.
ARC 20, Lakeside 13
Augusta Christian (3-1) at Porter Gaud (3-1)
This is a rematch of last year's SCISA state title game. Augusta Christian won that one 24-7. They will have a tougher test this time around. Porter Gaud has limited its opponents to just seven points per game in its three victories. On the flip side, Augusta Christian is averaging 36 points per game in its three wins. This should be a good one.
Augusta Christian 23, Porter Gaud 17
Harlem is off this week. It faces Liberty County on Sept. 29.
