New balls donated for soccer

Local boys and girls in the Columbia County Recreation Department's soccer program will receive new soccer balls this month donated by Uniroyal Tire and Marc Yount's Tire.

Each athlete in the department's soccer program will receive a certificate for a free soccer ball to be redeemed at Marc Yount's Tire starting Sept. 1. In addition, the business will donate $2 to the soccer program for every Uniroyal tire sold in the month of September.

Since the program launched in 2000, Uniroyal and its tire dealers have donated more than $9 million in funds and equipment, including a total of 657,500 free soccer balls to recreation departments around the country.
