Dollar General robbed
//
Columbia County authorities released video surveillance images Wednesday of a man accused of robbing a Martinez discount store at gunpoint Tuesday night.
A 33-year-old Martinez woman told police Tuesday night that a man surprised her in the back of the Dollar General store at 210 Baston Road and held her at gunpoint until the last customer left, according to a Columbia County Sheriff's Office incident report. The man bound her hands and then took her to the front of the store, where he demanded a store clerk go to the back office and give him cash from a safe, according to the report.
The woman told police the man threatened to shoot her if the clerk did not empty the store's registers, according to the incident report.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris said Wednesday that he could not provide additional details about the robber and that the man's identity is not known. No one was hurt.
Lakeside arrests
Two Lakeside High School students were arrested this past week in separate incidents.
On Wednesday, Brian James Roscoe, 17, of the 3800 block of Black-stone Camp Road, was charged with possession of marijuana after being arrested at school. He was released later in the day from the Columbia County Detention Center on $1,100 bond.
A school safety officer said someone informed him that Roscoe had the drug in his possession, Morris said. Roscoe was removed from his class, and a search revealed that he had less than an ounce of marijuana in his back pocket, the captain said.
On Thursday, a 16-year-old sophomore was arrested on a sexual battery charge and later released to the custody of his parents, Morris said.
The teen is accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old female sophomore.
"Apparently this had been going on for quite some time," Morris said.
The following accounts were taken from reports filed with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
Robbery arrest
A Martinez man has been arrested after being accused of robbing a Domino's Pizza delivery man late Tuesday.
Wesley Looper, 25, of the 400 block of Blue Ridge Drive, is charged with armed robbery and is being held without bond at the Columbia County Detention Center.
The incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. while the Domino's employee was delivering a pizza to an address in the Shenandoah Ridge Apartment complex off Old Petersburg Road.
A man approached the employee, brandished a knife and demanded money.
Deputies responded within minutes, and a man told authorities that his cousin matched the robber's description. Deputies later found Looper at the apartment where he was arrested.
Big rig stolen
An Augusta man told deputies early Tuesday that someone stole his tractor-trailer from a Martinez truck stop.
The 52-year-old from the 2300 block of Prague Court told deputies he left his rig parked overnight at the Pilot at 4091 S. Belair Road. When he returned, the 2000 Volvo VL64T and its Cowan Container Co. trailer load of surgical towels and blankets was gone.
Myspace faked
A Martinez woman told deputies Monday evening that someone created a user profile with photographs under her name at a popular Internet site.
The 21-year-old, from the 400 block of Ashridge Way, told deputies that she discovered someone created a profile on the Web site www.myspace.com on Sept. 8. The profile contained actual photographs of her, which she told deputies must have been taken from her personal e-mail.
