Bonhoeffer seminar

Augusta's First Baptist Church is holding a series of discussions about the life and legacy of the late theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was one of the first voices of resistance to Adolf Hitler. The event includes discussions, a movie and a dramatic performance, and will be held at 6:30 p.m. today and Wednesday and on Sept. 20 and 24. Spanish class

A basic-level Spanish class for adults 18 and older will be held at the Columbia County main library, at 720 N. Belair Road, in Evans, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday nights starting Tuesday. For information or to register, call (706) 863-1946 and choose option 4.

New church

The United Methodist Church will hold town hall meetings at 7 p.m. Wednesday and at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at Greenbrier Elementary School to share plans for a new congregation in Columbia County. For information, call Randy Monk at (706) 339-7090.

Fair pageant seeks contestants

Contestants are being sought for the 2006 Miss Columbia County Fair Scholarship Pageant to be held Sept. 30 at Evans High School. The pageant, sponsored by the Merchants Association of Columbia County, is for single women ages 17-24 and includes competition in evening gown, swimsuit, sportswear and interview categories. Meeting to feature candidate forum
