Softball tryouts

The Evans Dominators 16U Girls Fastpitch Softball team will hold tryouts at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Patriots Park. The team is looking for players to fill the fall 2006 and spring/summer 2007 roster. For information, contact Tuga Pearson at (706) 541-1070.

Basketball registration

A new basketball league for boys and girls ages 5-24 is holding open registration. Games will be played at Greenbrier High School from Jan. 13 through July. For information, call Dustin Leverett at (706) 651-8816.

Tennis tournament

The 2006 Banana Open Tennis Tournament will be held Sept. 7-10 at the Petersburg Racquet Club in Martinez. Players in men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed divisions will compete for the opportunity to qualify for the Banana Open Challenge in Hilton Head, S.C., in October. Golf tournament

The Patriot Day Golf Tournament will be Sept. 11 at Mount Vintage Plantation Golf Club in North Augusta to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Registration and lunch will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The tournament will follow a shamble format and a four-player team will cost $1,000. The 4th annual Doctors Hospital Boy Scouts Fall Golf Classic will be held at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Grovetown on Thursday, Sept. 28. Registration for the tournament, which will be played in the Lauderdale format, starts at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Y program

Registration for in-line hockey runs through Tuesday, with the season running Sept. 12-Oct. 28. A free clinic will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. For information, call Youth Program Coordinator Justin Goolsby at the Marshall Branch Family Y, (706) 364-3269.

Golf Tournament

The Second annual Tony Molini Memorial Golf Tournament will take place Sept. 30 at the Gordon Lakes Golf Course in Fort Gordon. The tournament is being sponsored by the Augusta Nuclear Technology Society and requires a $50 registration fee that includes 18 holes of golf and lunch.
